On International Human Rights Day, 10 December 2010, we released a short film in cinemas across the country to promote our Common Values campaign.
Common values in our classrooms
We promote common values in our classrooms... why not in our country?
A short film about human rights starring Riz Ahmed and Simon Callow, made for Liberty by DNR Films.

We also launched our Liberty Schools
Creative Writing Competition: Write Human
Rights, which aims to provide
teachers with a powerful and engaging human rights activity for their classroom
and a broad platform for young people to learn about the Human Rights Act and
how it works to safeguard the rights of children, young people and adults
alike.
Although the Human Rights Act is often misquoted and maligned in adult society, the rights and values it defends – fairness, equality, privacy, dignity and respect – often mirror those we look to encourage in our children. We aim to broaden respect for the essential rights and freedoms it upholds and protects, and what these mean for every one of us. There seems no more appropriate place to begin that process than in our schools and with our young people.
Find out more about Common Values and get involved in the campaign.
We also have a Schools Resource Pack.
