  • GETTING ADVICE

  • Liberty runs free specialist advice services for private individuals and voluntary sector organisations.

    Your Rights

Our dedicated information website www.yourrights.org.uk has comprehensive and up-to-date information about all aspects of human rights law in England and Wales.

    Advice Line

If you don't find the information that you are looking for on our website, you can call our advice line on these numbers:

    0845 123 2307

    0203 145 0461

If you are calling from a mobile phone the '020' number may be the cheaper number to use.

The line is open at the following times:

    Monday and Thursday 6.30pm - 8.30pm
    Wednesday 12.30pm - 2.30pm

Voluntary sector organisations should call when the line is open on Wednesdays. Private individuals are of course free to call during any of the three sessions.

    Online Query

Alternatively you can submit a written query via our online query form.

Can Liberty advise me on any legal issue?

Sadly, we do not have the resources to deal with all the written queries that we receive. We have to prioritise queries that raise human rights issues and that come within our areas of concern. If we are not going to be able to give a full response to your query, we will let you know as soon as we can and try to make suggestions for alternative sources of advice.

We can only advise on the law of England and Wales.

Can I visit Liberty's offices to get advice?

We do not receive visitors at our office. You should only contact us via our advice line or through our website.

    Please be patient

Each year we receive thousands of written queries. Unless your query is clearly urgent we will deal with it in turn. You may have to wait several weeks for a reply.

The easiest way to get a quick response from us is to call our advice line.
