| WHAT YOU CAN DO There is no evidence to support an extension of pre-charge detention. We have consistently urged the Government to drop their proposal for an extension from 28 to 42 days. After an overwhelming defeat in the House of Lords on 13 October 2008 the Goverment finally abandoned their 42 days detention plan.
You helped us make sure the Government had a fight on their hands before implementing this counter-productive, unjust and dangerous measure. Thank you - we couldn't have done it without you.
