Brendon Fearon, the convicted burglar shot and injured by Tony Martin has won the right to sue the jailed farmer for damages.

Commenting on the decision by a judge at Nottingham Crown Court, Shami Chakrabarti, Liberty's in-house barrister said: 'Brendon Fearon is a convicted criminal and is, quite rightly, serving time in prison. That does not take away his right to seek compensation for the injuries he suffered. It is for the courts to decide on the validity of his claim.'
