Commenting on The Culture Media and Sport Committee report on privacy and media intrusion, John Wadham, Director of Liberty, said:

The press has been guilty of blatant intrusion into the private lives of citizens but it is not the worst offender. Our Government has developed an almost obsessive desire to gather and control more and more data on its citizens and we need legislation to curb its excesses.'
