The Reverend Jesse Jackson, US civil rights campaigner, today gave his support for the campaign against the Government’s anti-terror proposals.

Joining thousands of others in signing a statement of opposition, Reverend Jackson said:

“Neither the US nor the UK Government has proved itself trustworthy enough to conduct democracy by secret intelligence”.

Welcoming Reverend Jackson’s support Shami Chakrabarti, Director of Liberty, said:
