'Charge or Release', Liberty’s campaign against any extension of pre-charge detention for terror suspects beyond the current limit of 28 days, has won the Public Affairs News award for Voluntary Sector Public Affairs Campaign of the year.

Through the use of a variety of campaigning techniques, including parliamentary briefing papers, campaign packs, meetings with MPs and billboard advertisements, the campaign succeeded in turning this issue into a national debate with real results in both the public and political arenas.
