| HUMAN RIGHTS AWARDS The 'Voice of Young People' project accept their Award The 2005 Human Rights Awards were presented to:
Michael Fordham For outstanding dedication and pro bono commitment to the development of human rights in a range of areas. For an incredibly high standard of legal skill in opposing unjust ASBOs, defending the rights of protesters and, in particular, for highlighting UK accountability for torture and deaths in detention in Iraq. Refugee Legal Centre For consistent and fearless use of the law to protect human rights and hold immigration and asylum policies up to the scrutiny of the courts. For successfully opposing the return, to the oppressive regime in Zimbabwe, of asylum seekers who had fled ill-treatment and torture. Voice of Young People Project - youth-led group supported by Genesis Community. For overcoming their own personal difficulties and devising, directing and producing a thought- provoking documentary challenging the negative perceptions of young people. For successfully motivating participants – from young people to government ministers – to contribute to their imaginative and unique work giving a voice to young people.
