We are deeply saddened to hear of the untimely and tragic loss of Caspar Bowden. Caspar was a distinguished and deeply committed human rights advocate who brought vision and a rare sharpness of mind to his work.
He forewarned what Edward Snowden later confirmed and he led the way on how society can best safeguard privacy in the modern age. He served as Chief Privacy Adviser to Microsoft, co-founded the Foundation for Information Research and served on Liberty's Policy Council for many years.
He will be sorely missed by friends and colleagues in the privacy and human rights community and we will do all we can to honour his enormous contribution for generations to come. Our thoughts are with his family.
