Final push towards Liberty's new home
- Georgina Pope, Director of Development
Liberty has been based in its current office for over 30 years, longer than many staff and volunteers have been alive.
The building has been the site of some important victories for civil liberties over the years, but is now too small and outdated for the modern campaigning organisation we’ve become.
We are getting close to reaching our target for the Future of Liberty Appeal. There’s a real sense of excitement in the air as staff look forward to the move and imagine how it’s going to transform our work for the better.
The new office is located just a few minutes’ walk from Parliament, Scotland Yard and the Supreme Court. Added to this hugely beneficial location is the extra space, which will allow us to take on more volunteers, host small events, conduct media interviews and much more.
Since launching the appeal we have been inspired by the generosity of our members and supporters, and moved by the many messages added to our Wall of Support. A common theme is Liberty’s long history of fighting injustice and placing principle over popularism.
We need your support to ensure that Liberty can continue to defend human rights and civil liberties - at the heart of Westminster - for decades to come.
We are incredibly close to reaching our target. Please help us raise the final amount by the end of July. You can donate to the appeal at www.justgiving.com/futureofliberty or by texting “LBTY11 £5” or “LBTY11 £10” to 70070.
In the words of one our members:
“I first joined NCCL around 1970, as a student. We need you as much now as we did then. Here’s to the future of Liberty”.
