After “racist van” and hot on the heels of the Immigration Bill, the Home Office and UK Border Agency have come under fire for telling people to leave the country via text – including anti-racism campaigners and immigration advisers!

Their text reads as follows: “Message from the Home Office. Our records show that you may not have leave to remain in the UK. Please contact us on 0844 3754636 to discuss your case.”

We are urging our members and supporters to Tweet the Home Office in reply, with the following message:

@ukhomeoffice Please stop texting malicious nuisance messages. It’s not big or clever, the public isn’t stupid and Liberty is watching you.
